Qld:Man escapes burning boat

A 58-year-old man has had a lucky escape from a burning boat moored near Fraser Island,
off the Queensland coast.

A resident of the island's Kingfisher Bay Resort called police about 8.45pm (AEST)
last night after seeing the seven-metre yacht ablaze about 400 metres offshore.

Police say a 58-year-old man, who was alone on the vessel, managed to get into his
dinghy and row to the island.

He was treated for smoke inhalation and minor burns to his hands.

The yacht burned to the waterline and sank.

Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the fire.
