The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and Hongkong Telecom(HkT) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) here Thursday tojointly introduce the world's first broadband business applicationservice to Hong Kong business community.
The Productivity-on-Demand service will provide all-in-onebusiness solutions including high speed Internet access, integratedcommunications, business information, online service bureau andtraining services to local companies.
Under the memorandum, HkT, the biggest telecom company in HongKong, will provide the broadband infrastructure required for thedevelopment and delivery of Productivity-on-Demand, while HKPC willprovide up-to-date business information, knowledge bases, and onlinebureau services to users.K.H. Cheng, director of product and e-commerce of HkT, said theservice is launched to enhance the competitiveness of localbusiness,in particular small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) throughutilization of advanced information technology (IT) and broadbandnetwork.Through this service, local companies will be able to save costs,enhance productivity and improve their competitive edge.HKPC Executive Director Thomas Tang said thatProductivity-on-Demand will be available to Hong Kong companies bythe first quarter of next year.Cheng said that the service is a joint initiative between HkT andHKPC to create and promote a simple and user-friendly means to adoptIT within the Hong Kong business community.As a high speed broadband application of integrated businesstailor-made for Hong Kong's SMEs, Productivity-on-Demand enablesthemto fully enjoy the convenience of e-commerce and speed up their paceentering the world market, Cheng said.
